Sawan Shivratri 2024: Shivratri is a special festival of Sanatan Dharma. Although Shivratri festival comes every month, Shivratri of the month of Sawan has special significance. According to the Hindu calendar, Shivratri fast is observed on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of every month. On this day, Kavad pilgrims offer Ganga water on the Shivling. It is believed that Shivratri is the day of union of Shiva and Shakti.
This time the fast of Sawan Shivratri is being kept on 2nd August i.e. today and the fast of Shivratri will be broken on 3rd August, Saturday. For Shiva devotees, the importance of Sawan Shivratri is equal to that of Mahashivratri. On the day of Sawan Shivratri, there is a ritual of keeping fast, performing puja, Jalabhishek, Rudrabhishek and fasting etc.

According to the Hindu calendar, the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Sawan month will start on August 2, i.e. today at 3:26 pm and this date will end on August 3, i.e. tomorrow at 3:50 pm. According to the Udayatithi, the fast of Sawan Shivratri is being observed on August 2, i.e. today.

Sawan Shivratri auspicious yoga (Sawan Shivratri 2024 auspicious yoga)
This time Sawan Shivratri is considered very special because many auspicious yogas are also being formed on this day. Actually, Vajra Yoga, Harsh Yoga and Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga are being formed today. Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga will start today at 10:59 am and will end on August 3, i.e. tomorrow at 5:44 am.
Sawan Shivratri Worship Method (Sawan Shivratri Pujan Vidhi)
Take a bath in the morning on the day of Sawan Shivratri. After that, wear white clothes, offer water to the Shivling and chant ‘Om Namah Shivaya’. In the Shiv Purana, there is a provision to worship Lord Shiva in all four times on Sawan Shivratri. Shivling should be anointed with Ganga water in the morning, milk in the afternoon, curd in the evening and honey and Ganga water at night. Those who fast on this day must recite the Shiv Purana or Shivashtak. Conclude the puja with Shiva Aarti.

1. Do not eat wheat, rice, lentils or any other whole grains on the day of Sawan Shivratri.
2. Follow celibacy.
3. Do not eat tamasic food like garlic and onion.
4. Do not consume meat and alcohol at all on the day of Sawan Shivratri.
5. Do not offer Ketaki, vermillion, Roli, Kumkum on Shivling.
6. Never include basil leaves in the worship of Bholenath.
7. Keep your mind calm on the day of Sawan Shivratri.
8. Do not fight with anyone and do not insult anyone even by mistake.
