The court sentenced 9 people to life imprisonment in the murder of SHO 39 years ago in UP

The court has convicted 9 people in the murder of a SHO of the police in Jaunpur, UP in the year 1985. In this 39-year-old case, the court has sentenced all the accused to life imprisonment.

Regarding this case, government lawyer Satish Chandra Pandey said that in December 1985, SHO Babban Singh of Sureri police station was murdered. Pandey said, ‘The court of District Judge Vani Ranjan Agarwal convicted nine people in this murder case. The court sentenced the culprits to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.’

SHO was murdered in 1985

The public prosecutor said that on December 18, 1985, SHO Babban Singh had gone to resolve a land possession case in Sirohi Purwa, when angry villagers attacked him.

Pandey said, nine accused died during the trial and eight were acquitted by the court. According to the information, when the SHO reached to resolve the dispute, the accused Manikchand, Jaiprakash, Shriram, Om Prakash, Uttam, Mohan and others surrounded him near the farm and attacked the police team. The accused started trying to free Baliram.

Jaiprakash fired from a pistol at Sub Inspector Amarnath. As the station head Babban Singh bent down, the bullet hit Sukhnandan and he died on the spot. After this, Babban Singh was attacked with a brick by the accused in which he also died.

During the incident, accused Baliram had also looted the pistol, magazine and bullets of SHO Amarnath. When the police inspected the spot, they recovered blood-soaked sticks, brick pieces and cartridges.

The public prosecutor said that Babban Singh later died due to severe injuries. The police had registered an FIR against 60 people in this case and filed a chargesheet against 26 accused. He said that a cross case was also filed against the policemen in this case but they were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
