Government residences allotted to new ministers of Modi government, all except one got Type-8 bungalows

Government accommodation has been allotted to the new ministers of the Modi government. All the new cabinet ministers, except one, have been given Type-8 bungalows. Former Madhya Pradesh CM and current Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will now live at 12 Safdarjung Road, while Manohar Lal Khattar will live at 3 Krishna Menon Marg.

The residential accommodation available for the Lok Sabha pool includes 159 bungalows, 37 twin flats, 193 single flats, 96 flats in multi-storey buildings and 32 units of singular regular accommodation. All these accommodations are in North Avenue, South Avenue, Meena Bagh, Bishamber Das Marg, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Tilak Lane and Vitthal Bhai Patel House in Central Delhi.

Type 8 Bungalow
Type 8 bungalow is considered to be of the highest category. It is about three acres (a little more or less). The main building of these bungalows has 8 rooms (5 bedrooms, 1 hall, 1 large dining room and a study room). Apart from this, there is a sitting room in the campus and a servant quarter in the backside (inside the campus). Generally, Type 8 bungalows are allotted to cabinet ministers, Supreme Court judges, former Prime Ministers/Presidents/Vice Presidents (or their living spouses) and senior most leaders. Type 8 bungalows are on Janpath, Tyagaraj Marg, Krishna Menon Marg, Akbar Road, Safdarjung Road, Motilal Nehru Marg and Tughlaq Road.

Type 7 Bungalow
The area of ​​a Type 7 bungalow is between one and one and a half acres. It has one bedroom less (4 bedrooms) compared to Type 8 bungalows. Such bungalows are in Ashoka Road, Lodhi Estate, Kushak Road, Canning Lane, Tughlak Lane etc. This type of bungalow is often allotted to state ministers, Delhi High Court judges, persons who have been MPs at least five times. The Tughlak Lane bungalow in which Rahul Gandhi lives is also Type 7.

New MPs get Type-5 bungalow
People who become MPs for the first time usually get Type-5 accommodation. However, according to the new conditions, they can also get Type-6 accommodation. For this, they have to meet some conditions. These include the conditions of first becoming an MLA or a minister in the state government. There are four categories in Type Five accommodation. Under Type Five (A), one drawing room and one bedroom set are allotted. Whereas Type Five (B) provides one drawing room and two bedroom set. Whereas Type Five (C) provides a drawing room and three bedroom set. Whereas Type Five (D) provides a drawing room and four bedroom set.

What are the rules regarding rent?

The central government provides accommodation to MPs. If an MP is not allotted a house and stays in a hotel after coming to Delhi, then the rent is also paid by the government. If a former MP is staying in a government accommodation, then he has to pay rent as per the market rate.

Not only this, MPs are also given allowance for the maintenance of flats and bungalows. If the expenditure is more than 30 thousand, then the funds are approved by the Urban Development Ministry. At the same time, the House Committee can approve the expenditure up to 30 thousand.
