Swati Maliwal case is going to cost Kejriwal more than Vibhav

The name of the new problem facing Arvind Kejriwal is Bibhav Kumar. Bibhav Kumar was once the personal secretary of the Chief Minister of Delhi, but his appointment was questioned and then he was removed.

During the hearing of Swati Maliwal case, Supreme Court has seen the act of Bibhav Kumar as an attacking goon and has expressed surprise that how a goon managed to enter in the Chief Minister’s residence?

Bibhav Kumar is considered to be very close to Arvind Kejriwal due to working together for years. Swati Maliwal has also been working with Arvind Kejriwal for a long time, but in the case of assault at the Chief Minister’s residence, Arvind Kejriwal did not support Swati Maliwal. Instead, he decided to support Bibhav Kumar. Currently, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who fought Arvind Kejriwal’s case, is pleading Bibhav Kumar’s case.

The Supreme Court, adopting a very strict attitude, has issued a notice to Delhi Police and sought a reply on Bibhav Kumar’s bail plea – and the next hearing on the bail plea is now scheduled for August 7. Earlier, Bibhav Kumar had also gone to the Delhi High Court for bail, but on July 12, Bibhav Kumar was denied bail on the grounds that he has ‘a lot of influence’ and there is no basis for granting him relief. The court said, ‘It cannot be denied that if the petitioner is released on bail, witnesses can be influenced, or evidence can be tampered with… Keeping in mind the nature of the allegations and the possibility of witnesses being influenced, there is no basis for releasing him on bail.’

How is hooliganism allowed in Chief Minister’s residence?

Abhishek Manu Singhvi presented various arguments in the Supreme Court to get bail for Bibhav Kumar, but could not convince the court. Abhishek Manu Singhvi also said that the murder accused should also be granted bail, but the Supreme Court did not listen to him.

On Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s argument, Justice Suryakant said, “Don’t refer those cases to us, because the way the incident happened is a matter of concern for us… Are you not ashamed of behaving like this with a woman? We even grant bail to contract killers, murderers, but in this case, what kind of moral firmness is there?”

While arguing for Bibhav, Singhvi also cited the delay in filing the FIR. Singhvi said that Swati Maliwal had gone to the police on the first day as well, but the complaint was filed after three days. But Singhvi had no argument to refute the fact that Swati Maliwal had called the police from the spot itself and asked for help. Justice Suryakant asked whether Swati Maliwal called 112? If yes, then this proves your claim that she has fabricated the story to be false.

The court said, ‘We are shocked at the way things have happened… Is the CM’s bungalow a private residence? Is that office required to keep such goons? Is this the way? Swati Maliwal asked him to stop but the man did not stop. What does he think? Does he have power over his head? You were the former secretary, if the victim did not have the right to stay there, you also did not have the right to stay there. You made it look as if a goon had entered the premises. Are you ashamed of doing this? Do you think anyone present in that room would have had the courage to say anything against Vibhav?’

The Supreme Court believes that the Delhi High Court has heard the entire case thoroughly. As per the situation, it does not seem that Bibhav Kumar is going to get any relief from the court right now – and this also seems to go against Arvind Kejriwal.

Justice Suryakant Kant asked whether the CM’s official house is a private residence? Are such rules needed for this? We are surprised, this is not about minor or major injuries. The High Court has heard everything properly.

Trends of Kejriwal’s new troubles have started emerging

The incident of assault on Swati Maliwal happened when Arvind Kejriwal was out on interim bail granted by the Supreme Court for election campaign. At the time of the incident, Arvind Kejriwal was in the Chief Minister’s residence, but was not present at the spot.

Along with filing a complaint with the police, Swati Maliwal has also written a letter to the leaders of INDIA Block regarding the assault on her. In a letter written to Rahul Gandhi and other leaders, Swati Maliwal has sought time for a meeting. Recently, the leaders of opposition parties under the banner of India Block also protested at Jantar Mantar in support of Arvind Kejriwal – the question is whether Arvind Kejriwal will continue to get the support of the leaders of opposition parties even after the Supreme Court’s comment on Bibhav Kumar?

So far, only one leader of India Block is seen supporting Arvind Kejriwal in the Swati Maliwal case. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav was seen supporting Arvind Kejriwal in the Lucknow press conference and also attended the protest at Jantar Mantar. Akhilesh Yadav reiterated what he had said during the Lok Sabha elections. He said, there are many such organizations near Delhi which harass political people from time to time… There are many such organizations which deliberately defame political people… to humiliate them and file false cases – and with this Akhilesh Yadav declared, whenever we come to power… we will end such organizations forever.

Rahul Gandhi himself did not go to the protest, but he definitely sent Gaurav Gogoi and Pramod Tiwari. Open support for Arvind Kejriwal was also felt in the speeches of Congress leaders, but in Parliament Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of arrest without taking Arvind Kejriwal’s name.

The Swati Maliwal case may not matter in the eyes of Akhilesh Yadav, but Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has already given her opinion on this matter. During the Lok Sabha elections itself, when asked by the media, Priyanka Gandhi condemned the incident, and also said that if Swati Maliwal wants to talk to her, she will definitely listen – and stand with her.

After Priyanka Gandhi took a stand, Arvind Kejriwal would have hardly got Rahul Gandhi’s support even before, and after the Supreme Court’s comment in the Swati Maliwal case, it does not seem at all that he will stand with the AAP leader. And if Swati Maliwal is given time to meet and her views are heard, then the situation may change even more after that.

The Gandhi family has anyway maintained a distance from Arvind Kejriwal. During the Lok Sabha elections, even Mallikarjun Kharge did not share the stage with Arvind Kejriwal. Neither in the press conference in Lucknow, nor during the election campaign in Delhi.

Now it seems, if Arvind Kejriwal does not change his stand in the Swati Maliwal case, then other leaders of the India Block may also refrain from openly supporting him – and among such leaders, like Priyanka Gandhi, Mamta Banerjee may also be there.

By the way, changing one’s stand on any issue is not a difficult task for Arvind Kejriwal. Everyone has seen how he first accuses politicians of corruption, and when the matter reaches the court, he easily apologizes and ends the matter.
