After the rain on 31st July in Delhi, waterlogging was seen in the Parliament House as well, it rained so much that water started dripping from the roof, while the opposition parties have targeted the government for this and are comparing it with the old Parliament. Congress has given a notice regarding this, Congress has given this notice raising questions on waterlogging in the Parliament.

The roof of the new Parliament, built at a cost of about 1200 crores, started leaking after the rain, the video of which has been shared by Congress MP Manikam Tagore. It is worth noting that the new Parliament building was inaugurated last year i.e. on 28 May 2023.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav released a video on Twitter and wrote, ‘The old Parliament was better than this new Parliament, where even the old MPs could come and meet. Why not go back to the old Parliament, at least till the time the water leakage program is going on in the Parliament built with billions of rupees. The public is asking whether the water leaking from every new roof built under the BJP government is a part of their well thought out design

All schools in the city closed on Thursday due to heavy rains

It is noteworthy that Delhi Education Minister Atishi announced that all schools in the city will remain closed on Thursday due to heavy rains. The minister said in a post on ‘X’, ‘In view of the very heavy rain this evening and the forecast of heavy rain tomorrow, all government and private schools will remain closed on August 1.’

Accidents due to rain in Delhi

While in East Delhi’s Ghazipur area, a 22-year-old woman and her child drowned in a water-filled drain. Due to heavy rains the road was water-filled, due to which this accident happened because of not being able to differentiate between road and drain. While in Delhi on Wednesday, a house collapsed in Sabzi Mandi area due to heavy rains. The rescue team pulled a person out of the debris and sent him to the hospital. A woman was injured due to the collapse of a wall in Vasant Kunj. While in Daryaganj, the wall of a school fell on the vehicles parked outside. The rain filled many areas of Delhi.
