Hizbul Mujahideen, The Army’s Rashtriya Rifles unit attached to Romeo Force arrested an active associate of banned terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) from Magnar area of ​​Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir in a joint operation with Special Operations Group (SOG) of Poonch Police. According to an Army statement, the terrorist identified as Mohammad Khalil was detained by the Rashtriya Rifles of Romeo Force on July 30. Officials said a foreign pistol was recovered from the terrorist. They have also traced a WhatsApp number active in Pakistan, through which a handler was assigning tasks to Mohammad Khalil. According to DSP Operations in Rajouri, security forces have also recovered an AK 47 and two magazines. He said the accused is in police custody and further investigation is being carried out. According to officials, the accused was assigned tasks like gathering information about the area and transporting terrorists from one place to another.

Pakistani intruder killed in Samba

Meanwhile, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel killed a Pakistani intruder on the international border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials gave this information on Thursday. Officials said that the intruder was seen entering Indian territory near Khora post late on Wednesday night. They said that BSF personnel warned the intruder but he ignored those warnings, after which the soldiers opened fire. Senior BSF and police officials have reached the spot.

Meanwhile, according to the Home Ministry, a total of 28 people, including civilians and security personnel, were killed in 11 terror incidents and 24 encounters or counter-terror operations till July 21 this year. Replying to a question by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Pradeep Kumar Singh on behalf of the Home Ministry, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai submitted a written reply in the Lower House, stating that the number of terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir has come down as compared to previous years.

The data mentioned that a total of 14 security personnel and 14 civilians were killed till July 21 this year, while the number of people killed in 46 terror incidents and 48 encounters or counter-terror operations in the Union Territory in 2023 stood at 44 (30 security personnel and 14 civilians). According to the data, 146 people (91 security personnel and 55 civilians) were killed in 228 terror incidents and 189 encounters or counter-terror operations in the erstwhile state in 2018.
