Satellite images have revealed that China is building a new diesel-electric submarine. This has been revealed by Tom Shugart. Tom is a former US Navy and defense analyst. China is building its submarine at the Wuchang Shipyard in Wuhan district. China is increasing the strength of its navy so that it can compete with America.
Last year, the US Defense Department released a report which said that China has 48 diesel electric submarines. Out of these, 21 are 3600 tonne Type 039A and B. These are called Yuan class submarines. These have the power to fire anti-ship missiles. The Pentagon estimates that China will build 25 more such submarines by 2025 and add them to its navy.

China ranks second in the world in terms of its navy, while America ranks fourth. Now if we talk about aircraft carriers, China currently has three and America has 11. America ranks first in the world in this matter. China has three helicopter carriers. America has 9.
As far as submarines are concerned, China is only slightly behind America. China has 61 submarines while America has 64. China has 49 destroyers. Whereas America has 75. China has 42 frigates, but America does not have even one. China has 72 corvettes, while America has 23.
China is building a new type of submarine
Tom Shugart said that this picture was taken by Planet Labs on 26 April this year. But it took them a lot of time to analyze it. The possibility was that China is building a new class of submarine. This submarine looks to be 83 to 85 meters i.e. 272 to 279 feet long. Whereas Yuan class submarines are 77 meters long.
Therefore, it was likely that this is a new class submarine. Its stern also looks like an X. This means that its maneuvering will be easier and more controlled. This will also reduce the noise under water. Whereas China’s Yuan class submarine does not have such a stern. Neither in the old series, nor in the new series.
