Sri Lanka needed six runs in the last over. Suryakumar did not give Mohammad Siraj (0/11, 3 overs) a chance to bowl in the last over and took charge himself. The reason for this was the dangerous spin happening in Pallekele. After this, the Indian captain himself decided to make his debut in T20I bowling.
Surya took two wickets in this under pressure and final over. He dismissed Kamindu Mendis (1) and Mahish Teekshna (0) on consecutive balls, in this last over Surya gave only five runs and ended the match in a thrilling tie. The last T20 match at Pallekele got delayed due to rain, where the Indian team’s top order collapsed in the powerplay.
