The accident that took place at RAU’s IAS coaching centre in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi, took the lives of three promising students. These three students had come away from their homes to prepare for IAS. Shreya Yadav, Tanya Soni and Navin Delvin died in this accident. There is anger among the students after losing their friends. The students have started a hunger strike. The angry students say that the officers come, but are not listening to our demands. Here 90 percent of the libraries are running in the basement only. The students have no option. The fees of the libraries running on the first floor are up to 6-10 thousand.
A student protesting said that all the coaching institutes here have full seats, when students come out, there is a situation of herds and goats. If any incident happens, it is difficult to predict it. A girl student said that the coaching institute operators are not concerned about the safety of the students.
‘90% of coaching centres are running in basements’
Many coaching centres are operating in Old Rajendra Nagar, which is known as the hub of coaching for IAS. Students say that 90 percent of these centres are operating in basements. A student said that we come from outside, we should get better facilities. This is a student zone, we should get subsidy on electricity bills.

Students preparing for IAS expressed their pain
Rent of a small room is 15 to 20 thousand rupees
At the same time, a girl student said that the students are living in very bad conditions here. Sewer water comes out of the taps here, but no one takes responsibility for it. The rooms in which the students who come from far away to study in ORN i.e. Old Rajendra Nagar live have a lot of ventilation. The students have to pay rent of up to 20 thousand rupees for such places.
Rooms built in parking area
The reality of the conditions in which the students preparing for IAS are living in Old Rajendra Nagar of the capital Delhi was revealed in the ground report of India Today/Aaj Tak. A student said that I am living in the parking area, I have told my landlord many times that there is a hole here, get it closed, rats and insects are coming out of it, but there is no response from him. The landlord has converted the parking area into a room. There is a room and a washroom in it. The rent for this is also Rs 12 thousand. Electricity charges are being taken separately. A student, on the condition of anonymity, said that the rent of the small room in which he is living is 15 thousand including electricity charges. This room has a bed, a small table and a small cupboard in which the student’s clothes, books and utensils are kept. After the incident, the students are scared. A student said that he wants to vacate his house, so the landlord said that he should have told about this a month in advance. If he vacates the house, the advance and security will not be returned to him. The student said that after the incident, I study here during the day and at night I go to my sister’s house in Noida and sleep there. Because there is an atmosphere of fear.
