In the incident of Old Rajendra Nagar in Delhi, the lights of many families have been extinguished due to the faulty system, while the situation is not very different in the capital Lucknow. On the lines of Old Rajendra Nagar, numerous illegal coaching institutes and PGs are established on Naval Kishore Road in Lucknow where the lives of innocent children are at stake every day. Alerted by this incident, the UP government has also ordered to investigate the basements built or under construction. When Aaj Tak reached Naval Kishore Road and investigated, it found that whether it is coaching institutes or PGs, all are running illegally.

NEET coaching running in the basement

First of all, we take you to a NEET coaching centre built in the basement, where you will feel as if you have come to a ruin. Not only this, there is a hanging electric wire on the way to enter this coaching centre, which is no less than a death feast for children in the rainy season. The coaching centre is running in the basement and there is only one exit and the atmosphere inside is suffocating. If the electricity goes off, you will be breathless. The stairs built here are so narrow that only two children can go up or down at a time, which means that if there is a fire or flood, there is a risk of death in a stampede.

Coaching centers are built in narrow streets

A little further ahead, there is a narrow lane, which is only 10m wide, where even a car cannot pass and in the middle of this web of lanes, there are many coaching and PG hostels. If a fire breaks out in the coaching or PG built in this lane, then even a fire tender cannot enter.

A little further ahead there are PGs whose condition is even worse. There is everything not there, dampness, termites and filth here. Children say that the condition here is very bad, it is difficult to live. Wires are hanging even outside the rooms. To prevent electric shock in the rain, cardboard has been put up as a cheap jugaad, a cardboard has become the standard for the safety of the children. This is the situation here, that if you walk here, dangerous electric wires will hit your head, neck and shoulder and on top of that there is water dripping from the sewer and AC. There are sacks of potatoes and onions kept outside the girls’ hostel.

After this, on moving ahead in these lanes, there comes another lane which is the way to PG and coaching, where there is only dirty water on which dangerous mosquitoes are floating. Some bricks are kept on top of the dirty water, on which children go to their coaching and PG by doing stunts, report by walking on these bricks.

A little further ahead, there are commercial buildings where there are clothes shops and shops of education and the roads through which these students go, there is only spit and dirt. There is a big banner of a coaching institute, behind which there is a den of dirt, while it is written there itself that ‘Spitting and littering is prohibited’.

There is an illegal lift in this building which must not have been checked for years, through that one reaches the coaching centre upstairs, there too there is only a tangle of dangerous wires and life is at stake. After this, another coaching centre is found in the basement. However, they claim that they have the papers, but there is no answer as to whether they can run a coaching centre in the basement or not.
