On the other hand, Visit Maldives Chairperson Abdul Ghiyas says that due to the decrease in tourists coming to Maldives from India, their economy has been affected. Due to which this program has been organized. This program, which is also being called a roadshow, will be organized today in Delhi and tomorrow in Mumbai, then on August 3 in Bengaluru.

Why Maldives’ concern has increased, understand from the data

The Welcome India campaign is being organised for this very reason, so that more and more Indian tourists can be lured to visit Maldives. In the first four months of this year, the number of Indian tourists in Maldives has declined by 42 percent as compared to 2023. In 2023, Indians were number one among foreign tourists visiting Maldives, now they are on the verge of coming to number six. This has increased the concern of Maldives.
