Former MP from Badaun and BJP leader Sanghmitra Maurya has surrendered in the court of ACJM 3 in Lucknow. Deepak Kumar Swarnkar of Lucknow had filed a case of fraud and refusal to marry against Sanghmitra Maurya and Swami Prasad Maurya in PGI police station. Sanghmitra Maurya was not appearing during the hearing in the court. The court had declared Sanghmitra Maurya absconding. When Sanghmitra Maurya surrendered on Tuesday, she was kept in judicial custody for about 5 hours. The court, while hearing the bail application, has released Sanghmitra Maurya on bail till August 12.

Let us tell you that former Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Swami Prasad Maurya and his daughter Sanghamitra Maurya were declared ‘absconding’. The MP-MLA court had declared the father-daughter absconding. Summons were issued to both of them several times in a criminal case, despite which this action was taken against them for not appearing in court. This entire matter was related to Sanghamitra Maurya.

It is alleged that Sanghamitra fraudulently married another man without taking a divorce. A man named Deepak Swarnkar claims that he is married to Sanghamitra, but she is denying it. Deepak had filed a case against Swami Prasad Maurya, his daughter Sanghamitra and five others for assault, abuse, death threats and conspiracy.

The case was filed in the MP-MLA court of Lucknow. It is being told that the court had issued summons thrice, bailable warrant twice and non-bailable warrant once, despite this Swami Prasad Maurya and Sanghamitra were not appearing in the court. Therefore, the court had declared them absconding.
