If you have a credit card of HDFC Bank, the country’s largest private sector bank, then this news is special for you. Actually, from the first date of the month, HDFC Bank is going to change the rule related to credit card (HDFC Bank Credit Card Rule Change), which is going to increase your expenses.
1% extra charge on rent payment
One of the major changes to be implemented in the country from August 1, 2024 is related to finance. This is going to affect the cardholders using HDFC Bank Credit Card. The bank will now charge its credit card users an extra 1 percent on all rental transactions made through third party payment apps. This rule will apply to payments made using HDFC Bank credit card using PayTM, CRED, MobiKwik and other third-party apps. The maximum limit has been set by the bank at Rs 3,000 per transaction.
So much charge for utility transactions
According to the report of India Today, extra charges are also being levied on utility transactions. However, no extra charges will be levied on transactions of less than Rs 50,000, but if the value of such payment is more than Rs 50,000, a charge of 1 percent will be levied, here also the limit per transaction has been fixed at Rs 3,000.

Exemption from duty on petrol and diesel, insurance payment
Under the new rules that are going to be implemented regarding fuel transactions, if the cardholder makes an oil payment of less than 15,000, then there will be no charge, but for transactions above this amount, a charge of 1 percent will have to be paid. Talking about the payment of insurance premium, no additional charge will have to be paid on insurance payments.
This new rule in educational payment
Any kind of educational payments made through third party apps will also be charged a fee of 1 percent, however, no such charge will be levied on direct payments made through the official website of educational institutes or POS machines. Apart from this, international educational payments are also exempted from this fee.
