A 16-year-old boy committed suicide by jumping from the 14th floor of his residential building while playing an online game in Kiwale area of Pimpri-Chinchwad city adjacent to Pune. The boy has also written a suicide note. The boy has committed suicide by writing a ‘log of note’ in the letter. Before committing suicide, the boy made some sketches and maps in his notebook. The initial estimate of the police is that the boy must have committed suicide after getting addicted to the game.
The password of the laptop of the child who committed suicide is still not known to the parents and the police. Therefore, the biggest challenge in the investigation before the Pimpri-Chinchwad police is to find out which game the young man played before committing suicide. The police will take the help of cyber experts to investigate the child’s suicide. DCP Swapna Gore has appealed to the parents to keep an eye on their children’s mobile laptops so that such accidents can be avoided.
‘We appeal to the government to ensure that such incidents do not happen again’
The child’s mother said, ‘The boy had changed a lot in the last six months. He was becoming aggressive. As a mother, even I was scared to face him. I tried a lot to get him out of this game. I used to take the laptop from him but he would snatch it from me. He had changed so much that he was not even afraid of fire. He would ask for a knife. He was not like this before.’
The child’s mother has alleged that it is the government’s fault. How do such websites reach children? In today’s era, everything has become digital. When all these things reach children, they should be secured. My son did not know what would happen after jumping from the 14th floor. The other person (through the game) had put a task of suicide in front of him. Such incidents should not happen again. This is our appeal. I request the government not to let such things reach children.
She said that through the open network anyone can reach your children. There are many things there. There are animation series which are watched on BPN. What happened with my son, don’t let it happen with other children, this is what I tell the government.
‘He used to erase the history on his laptop’
The child’s father said, ‘The laptop given to my son has a parental lock. He was using the laptop after removing it. My child was good in studies. His results were also good.’ He said that you cannot pay attention to children 24 hours a day. He used to erase the history of his laptop. He had two mails. Even I did not know this. There are some sketches in his notebook. We also did not know about this. Two teams were written and played in it. This game is similar to Blue Whale.’
He said that in the last six months, there was a lot of change in the minor child. He used to cut watermelon very finely with a knife and play with fire. There was a lot of change in school as well. However, he was in no mood to listen. This information has been given by the minor’s maternal uncle.
