Significance of Sawan
Sawan is a significant month in the Hindu calendar, as it is associated with the following events:
- During the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean), the deadly poison Halahala emerged, which Lord Shiva drank to save the universe.
- The deities and demons started offering holy Ganga water to Lord Shiva to reduce the harmful effects of the poison.
