Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya admitted in the BJP’s OBC working committee meeting that ‘we lost due to overconfidence’. He said that elections are not won on the strength of the government, it is the party that contests the elections and it is the party that wins the elections.

Keshav Maurya claimed that there is going to be more chaos in the Samajwadi Party. The Deputy CM asked his workers to respond to the rumours spreading on social media. He said, ‘Look, there are many fake people in the media, don’t pay much attention to what is going on in the media, what is going on on social media, but be alert and respond.’

Keshav Prasad Maurya said, ‘Nothing will happen just by posting photos on social media. Akhilesh and Congress will have to answer on social media.’ To woo the backward class, BJP held a meeting of OBC working committee on Monday. Both the deputy CMs of the state, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak were present in the meeting. Both the deputy CMs left the meeting just before CM Yogi’s arrival.

‘Out of 69000, 31000 recruitments were done for OBC’

In the meeting, CM Yogi said, ‘Those who raise questions about the recruitment of 69000 teachers should know that if there was 27 percent reservation for OBCs, only 18 thousand teachers would have been recruited, but out of 69000, more than 31 thousand recruitments were of OBCs. The 69000 teachers were made controversial by the same people who had made 56 out of 86 SDMs from the same caste.’

He said that 86 SDMs were appointed in the SP government. Out of 86, 56 were from one caste only, those people keep quiet on this matter. In the last 7 years, we have made 6.50 lakh government recruitments. 60 percent of these recruitments are from OBC community. We have implemented this in the recruitment of 69 thousand teachers. The same people raise this question who used to say that 56 out of 86 recruitments were from one community only.

The Chief Minister said, ‘Kanwar Yatra is going on right now. Remember, it was banned during the time of Congress, SP and BSP. The Lok Sabha elections are an example of how castes were made to fight among themselves.’

BJP got 33 seats in UP

Actually, in the politics of Uttar Pradesh, every party tries to appease the backward class. When the results of the general elections came this time, it was said that the angry backward class has distanced itself from the BJP this time. Many discussions also started regarding this. In the Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 33 seats in UP. Whereas in the 2019 elections, it had won 62 seats.

Angry backward class is the main reason behind poor performance

Earlier in 2014, BJP had won 71 seats in UP. This time, the resentment of the backward class is also being considered an important reason for the poor performance. The population of backward class (OBC) in UP is about 50% of the total population, which is an important vote bank from the electoral point of view.

This time in UP Lok Sabha elections, SP has won the maximum number of 37 seats. Congress has won 6 seats. BJP’s ally RLD has won 2 seats and Apna Dal (S) has won 1 seat. BSP could not open its account.
