Indian players are in action on the third day (29 July) of Paris Olympics 2024. India is expected to perform well in shooting today. Ramita Jindal played the final match of the Women’s 10m Air Rifle event, where she finished seventh. Ramita scored a total of 145.3 points. Korea’s Ban Hyojin won gold, Huang Yuting (China) won silver and Gogniet Audrey (Switzerland) won bronze. On the other hand, Arjun Babuta will present his challenge in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle event. Arjun Babuta’s final is to be played on 29 July itself.

Ramita’s performance in the final match:
First series: 10.3, 10.2, 10.6, 10.9, 10.5, Total: 52.5 points
Second series: 10.4, 10.1, 10.7, 10.6, 9.7, Total: 51.5 points
Remaining four shots: 10.4, 10.5, 10.2, 10.2, Total: 41.3 points

20-year-old Ramita was ranked fifth in the qualification round. Ramita scored 631.5 points in the 60-shot qualifying round. Ramita scored 104.3 in the first series, 106.0 in the second, 104.9 in the third, 105.3 in the fourth, 105.3 in the fifth and 105.7 in the sixth series. India’s Elavellin Valarivan was also participating in the Women’s 10 meter air pistol event, but she could not qualify for the final. Valarivan finished 10th with 630.7 points.

Ramita also missed in the mixed team event

Ramita Jindal participated in the 10 meter air rifle mixed team event, where her performance was not good. Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta finished sixth with a total score of 628.7, while Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh finished 12th with a total score of 626.3. The pair of Ramita and Arjun had once raised hopes. This Indian pair was in fifth place with three shots remaining, but eventually fell 1.0 points behind the cut off for the medal round.

Ramita, who hails from Ladwa block of Kurukshetra district of Haryana, is an accountancy student. Ramita’s father Arvind Jindal is a tax advisor. In the year 2016, Ramita’s father Sthan Karan took her to the shooting range. After this, Ramita got inclined towards this sport. 20-year-old Ramita won the gold medal in the women’s 10 meter air rifle event at the Junior ISSF World Championship in the year 2022. Then Ramita also won two medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
