AAP protests after the death of 3 students in Rau’s IAS coaching, demand to suspend MCD commissioner, Delhi Mayor calls emergency meeting

After the death of 3 students in the basement of Rau’s IAS coaching in Delhi, AAP has opened a front against BJP. On Monday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs and councilors protested fiercely in front of Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Secretariat. The protesting AAP leaders demanded LG Vinay Kumar Saxena to immediately remove the MCD commissioner. Apart from this, the protesting leaders also appealed to take action against the officers who did not fulfill their responsibilities.

Delhi Mayor Shaili Oberoi has called an emergency meeting today on this issue. This meeting will be held at the MCD Civic Center, in which the MCD Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer of Jal Board and Principal Secretary of PWD will also participate.

Action should be taken against useless officers: Pandey

During the protest, senior AAP leader Dilip Pandey said, ‘We have not come here to fight. We have come here to request him (LG) to take action against those useless officers who are not working even after getting instructions from the ministers.’ At the same time, Delhi minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the officers under the LG did not obey his order to clean the sewage and drains in Delhi, after which the party MLAs and councilors have to protest outside the LG Secretariat.

‘MCD commissioner is responsible for taking action’

Talking on this issue, AAP MLA from Rajendra Nagar, Durgesh Pathak said, ‘Action to seal basements has been taken many times before. But this is a problem of entire Delhi. BJP has created a practice of doing illegal activities in connivance with the building officials. The responsibility of taking action lies with the MCD commissioner. LG sahab is saying that no work has been done on the drain for 10 years. But we have just joined MCD. How the basement got filled with water, this responsibility lies with the officials sitting on high seats.’

Officials will have to take action: Pathak

AAP leader Durgesh Pathak said, ‘This area (Old Rajendra Nagar) is a low line. Heavy rain causes water logging there. The floor of the building where the accident took place was on the ground. Therefore, the water filled up quickly and after the power cut, the children could not come out due to biometrics in the basement. AAP will always raise the issue of illegal construction in the Vidhan Sabha and MCD, but the officials will have to take action.’

Students raised slogans in front of LG

Apart from the students, AAP workers are also continuously protesting against the incident. On Monday, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena reached Old Rajendra Nagar, but the students started sloganeering in front of him. For a long time, the students kept raising slogans and showing posters and banners in front of him.

So far 7 people have been arrested in the case

Let us tell you that the police has arrested 5 more people today in the case of the death of three students after water filled in the basement. Earlier, the owner and coordinator of the coaching center were also arrested. That is, a total of 7 arrests have been made in this case so far. The police has also arrested the driver of the vehicle (SUV) who passed by the main road. It is being said that the pressure increased due to the car leaving and water entered inside the building.
