Tamil Nadu BSP chief murder case: Three accused arrested, sent to police custody

Police have arrested three more accused in the Tamil Nadu Bahujan Samaj Party chief K Armstrong murder case. The arrested persons have been identified as N Vijayakumar (21), V Mukilan (32) and N Vignesh (27 years old). They were produced in a local court on Sunday. The court has sent all three to police custody for 15 days.

The number of accused taken into police custody in this high profile murder case has now reached 20. One of the accused in this case, K Thiruvengadam, died in a police encounter on 14 July. He was being taken for weapon recovery after his arrest. At that very moment, the accused tried to escape from there, he snatched the weapon and started firing.

After this, the police killed him in retaliation. On July 5, Bahujan Samaj Party state president K Armstrong was murdered by a gang. After this murder, there was widespread anger in the state. Opposition parties including AIADMK alleged that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated. A CBI inquiry was demanded into this murder.

Let us tell you that K Armstrong was a lawyer and Ambedkarite by profession. He used to work for the welfare of Dalits. He was the state president of BSP for many years. He was very popular in North Chennai area. He was especially popular among the youth whom he helped in studying and getting jobs. He won as an independent councilor in the year 2006.

After this he joined BSP. He contested from Kolathur constituency in the 2011 assembly elections challenging DMK’s MK Stalin. He got a sufficient number of votes in the election. He came into the limelight after inviting former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for a rally. After this he gained fame all over Tamil Nadu.

On July 5, K Armstrong was murdered in front of his house in Chennai. He was talking to some party workers at his house on Venugopal Street in Sembium area of ​​Chennai at around 7 pm. Then six people came on two bikes and attacked him with knives and swords. He was admitted to Apollo Hospital, but by then he had died.
