Police in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, has arrested a businessman who had hatched a conspiracy to kidnap himself. The accused has been identified as Arjun Kumar (35). He is a resident of Basehiya village in Colonelganj area of the district. He works in the flower business. Police have taken him into custody and are interrogating him.

According to the police, flower trader Arjun Kumar had gone to Colonelganj market from the village on July 24. But he did not return home till late night. After a lot of searching, his family members lodged a missing report in the local police station. The police deployed several teams to search for him. Meanwhile, on Thursday, his brother Rakesh Kumar received a call.

Gonda Superintendent of Police (SP) Vineet Jaiswal said on Saturday that the caller told Rakesh that Arjun had been kidnapped. A ransom of Rs 60 lakh was demanded for his release. Meanwhile, the police was continuously tracking Arjun through surveillance. His location was found in Haridwar. The police went there and recovered him.

During interrogation by the police, Arjun Kumar told that he had taken a loan of Rs 31 lakh without informing his family members. Due to loss in business, he was unable to repay the loan. Therefore, he staged his kidnapping. He hoped that the family members would arrange for the ransom, so that he could repay his loan.

Let us tell you that a similar case came to light in Kota in March. Here a girl student had hatched a conspiracy to kidnap herself to study abroad. But the police exposed her conspiracy after a long investigation. The police had said that the kidnapping of the girl had never happened. This story was fabricated to study abroad.

A friend of the student living in Indore had told the police that two of her friends also wanted to go abroad to study with her. The student had come with her mother to Kota from August 3 to 5, 2023 to take admission in coaching for NEET preparation. After this she went to live in Indore. She had never lived here in Kota.

The test marks she was sending to her family were also not being received from any coaching institute. She was living with two friends in Indore. When the police traced one of the student’s friends, he revealed the whole story. A ransom of Rs 30 lakh was demanded by sending a photo of the girl’s hands, feet and mouth tied on a WhatsApp number to the student’s father.
