Good news has come for India in shooting on the first day (27 July) of Paris Olympics 2024. Shooter Manu Bhaker has reached the final of the women’s 10 meter air pistol event. Manu Bhaker finished third with a total of 580 points in the qualifying round of 60 shots. Bhaker scored 97 in the first series, 97 in the second, 98 in the third, 96 in the fourth, 96 in the fifth and 96 in the sixth series. Manu Bhaker’s final will be held tomorrow (28 July) at 3.30 pm Indian time.

Disappointing performance by Rhythm Sangwan

Let us tell you that Rhythm Sangwan was also participating in the Women’s 10 meter air pistol event, but she disappointed. Rhythm finished 15th with 573 points. 22-year-old Manu Bhaker could not do anything special in the Tokyo Olympics, but this time she would like to perform better. She is participating in three events, which include 10 meter air pistol, 25 meter pistol and 10 meter pistol mixed team.

Earlier, Indian shooters were eliminated in the 10m air rifle mixed team qualification stage. Two Indian pairs were participating in this event. Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta finished sixth with a total score of 628.7, while Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh finished 12th with a total score of 626.3. The pair of Ramita and Arjun had once raised hopes. This Indian pair was in fifth place with three shots remaining, but eventually fell 1.0 points behind the cut off for the medal round.

Arjun started off well in the second series and scored 10.5, 10.6, 10.5, 10.9. Ramita scored 10.2, 10.7, 10.3, 10.1 in the second series. This helped the pair reach the top eight, but this score was not enough to make it to the medal round. To reach the medal round, it was necessary to make it to the top four. The teams of China, Korea and Kazakhstan finished in the first three positions in the qualification round.

Sarabjot missed out on reaching the finals

On the other hand, Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Singh Cheema could not make it to the finals of the men’s 10 meter air pistol. The top eight shooters got a place for the final match. Sarabjot finished ninth in the qualification with a total score of 577, while Arjun finished 18th with a score of 574.

Germany’s Robin Walter, who made it to the finals with an eighth place, also had a score of 577, but he hit 17 accurate shots as compared to Sarabjot’s 16. Sarabjot had reached the top three after scoring a perfect 100 in the fourth series, but the 22-year-old shooter failed to maintain the momentum and missed out on a place in the finals by a narrow margin.
