Haryana Doctors’ strike: After the talks between the Haryana government and the Haryana Civil Medical Service Association (HCMSA), the government doctors have called off their strike. Now the doctors will return to work from Saturday. After the talks were settled, the HCMSA announced the end of the ongoing strike. The health services in the state had collapsed due to the doctors going on strike. This was causing a lot of trouble to the patients. According to the information, the government accepted the demands of the doctors at around 11:30 pm on Friday night.

NHM workers also went on strike

In Haryana, along with the doctors, 15 thousand NHM workers also went on strike. Due to this, patients were not getting treatment in hospitals and were wandering around. OPD and emergency services were affected due to the strike.

The strike was called off after assurances that demands would be met

The Haryana Civil Medical Service Association (HCMSA), representing government doctors in the state, had called for a strike over non-fulfillment of their various demands. These doctors are demanding the formation of a specialist cadre, a career promotion scheme, so that their parity with the doctors of the central government is ensured. Other demands of the doctors include not recruiting senior medical officers directly and reducing the bond amount for postgraduate courses. Talks between the Haryana government and the doctors’ organization remained inconclusive on Thursday.

Health care had collapsed

Association president Dr. Rajesh Khyali had said on Friday, “The indefinite strike of government doctors is continuing. The hunger strike of four doctors is also continuing simultaneously.” He said that on Thursday about three thousand doctors joined the indefinite strike. This affected the services in government hospitals and long queues were formed outside the Out Patient Department (OPD). On Thursday, some patients had said that interns and retired doctors were treating them.

To resolve this issue, the government had invited the doctors’ association for talks here on Wednesday. Health officials say that alternative arrangements have been made in view of the strike so that patients do not face much inconvenience.
