8 people have died in Lucknow building accident so far, it was completed four years ago

Lucknow Building Collapse Update: The death toll in the building collapse in Lucknow’s Transport Nagar has risen to eight after three more bodies were pulled out from the debris late last night. Teams of NDRF, SDRF and district administration are still engaged in rescue operations. A police officer has said that the three-storey building that collapsed was constructed about four years ago.

Officials said on Sunday that teams engaged in rescue operations have recovered three more bodies from the debris, after which the death toll in the accident has gone up to eight. Relief Commissioner GS Naveen said that the SDRF has recovered the bodies of three people during the rescue operation, who have been identified as Raj Kishore (27), Rudra Yadav (24) and Jagroop Singh (35). Earlier, the bodies of Manjit Singh, Dheeraj, Pankaj, Arun and Ram Kishore were recovered.

Accident happened after heavy rain

According to news agency PTI, a senior district administration official said they are now focusing on ensuring that no one else is trapped under the debris. Police said the building was constructed around four years ago and some construction work was going on at the time of the incident. Most of the victims were working on the ground floor when the incident occurred around 4:45 pm on Saturday evening after heavy rains. The injured have been admitted to various hospitals, including Lok Bandhu Hospital in the district.

There was a motor workshop on the ground floor

According to officials, the building had a motor workshop and warehouse on the ground floor, a medical warehouse on the first floor and a cutlery warehouse on the second floor. Akash Singh, who works in the medical warehouse and is among the injured, said that one of the pillars of the building had developed cracks. He said, “We had come to the ground floor due to rain. We saw that one of the pillars of the building had developed cracks. Suddenly the entire building collapsed on us.”

Let us tell you that a three-storey building collapsed in Transport Nagar of Sarojini Nagar area last Saturday. Many people were buried under the debris of this building, out of which 28 people have been rescued. So far eight people have died.
