76 dams of Gujarat are 100% full, 207 reservoirs have more water than capacity, if there is more rain then there will be devastation…

The rain in Gujarat is such that it seems as if the entire state has been flooded. Floods and rains are wreaking havoc in most districts of Gujarat. Roads have become seas and most of the dams in the state are overflowing. IMD has issued a red alert in 28 districts of Gujarat and an orange alert in 6 districts today, i.e. on 27 August. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), if torrential rains continue in Gujarat, then most of the districts of the state can be devastated, because everything from rivers to dams are overflowing.

Dams and reservoirs overflowed

Due to heavy rains in Gujarat, a total of 76 reservoirs have been filled completely and 46 reservoirs are more than 70 percent full, in view of which the administration has issued a high alert in the areas around these dams. More than 87 percent of the water has been filled in the Sardar Sarovar dam, the lifeline of Gujarat. At the same time, more than 78 percent of the total storage capacity has been filled in the total 207 reservoirs of the state. Let us tell you that today more than 78 percent water storage has been recorded in the state as compared to 76 percent on this day last year.

Due to heavy rains in the state, 76 reservoirs are completely filled i.e. 100 percent, while 46 reservoirs and dams are 70 to 100 percent full and have been put on high alert. Apart from this, alert has been issued when 23 dams in the state are filled with 50 to 70 percent water, while 30 dams are between 25 to 50 percent and 31 dams are less than 25 percent full.

Water level increased in Sardar Sarovar

At present, 2,90,547 MCM i.e. 87% of the total storage capacity of water has been recorded in the Jivdori Samaan Sardar Sarovar Project of Gujarat. Apart from this, 4,07,440 MCM i.e. 72.73% of the total storage capacity of water has been recorded in the other 206 reservoirs of the state. Thus, according to the report of the Water Resources Department, more than 78% of the water has been stored in a total of 207 reservoirs.

According to this morning’s report, due to heavy rains in the state, the maximum water is being released in Sardar Sarovar Yojana against the revenue of 3.38 lakh cusecs. Whereas 2.87 lakh cusecs of water has been released in Vanakbori reservoir against the revenue of 2.87 lakh cusecs, 2.46 lakh cusecs of water has been released in Ukai against the revenue of 2.47 lakh cusecs, 1.25 lakh cusecs of water has been released in Kadana against the revenue of 1.50 lakh cusecs and 1.19 lakh cusecs of water has been released in Under-1 against the revenue of 1.19 lakh cusecs. Apart from this, 70 thousand cusecs to 1000 thousand cusecs of water is being received in other 94 reservoirs.

87 percent water has been stored in 17 reservoirs of Central Gujarat, 78 percent in 13 reservoirs of South Gujarat, 66 percent in 141 reservoirs of Saurashtra, 61 percent in 20 reservoirs of Kutch and more than 39 percent in 15 reservoirs of North Gujarat. Similarly, more than 78 percent water has been stored in 207 reservoirs including Sardar Sarovar. The list of the Water Resources Department states that last year at this time, more than 76 percent water storage was recorded in these 207 reservoirs.
