59 year old lab technician arrested for raping a nurse for 21 years on the pretext of marriage

A 59-year-old man has been accused of rape in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. Police say that a nurse complained against the lab technician and said that he raped her for 21 years by making false promises of marriage. Police have arrested the accused.

According to the agency, the 36-year-old nurse has filed a petition in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Sabiha Khatoon against 59-year-old Chintamani Sharma. Chintamani is posted as a lab technician in the health department.

Hearing the petition, the CJM ordered the police to register a case against the accused. After this, a case was registered at Suryava police station and the police arrested the accused from Varanasi.

Bhadohi Superintendent of Police (SP) Meenakshi Katyayan said that the accused lived in the same apartment with the complaining nurse. The accused woman was 15 years old at that time and was living with her family in Varanasi. At that time, the accused tried to get close to her on the pretext of helping her in studies. The accused threatened her and raped her. As time passed, he continued to have a relationship with her.

The SP said that the accused continuously sexually exploited the victim by promising to marry her. He secretly married someone else, but continued sexually exploiting the victim. After completing her studies, the complainant took up the job of a contract nurse. She was posted at a community health centre, where she was given a quarter to live.

The accused lab technician posted in Varanasi used to come to Bhadohi and had a physical relationship with the complaining nurse. When the nurse talked about marriage, the accused used to misbehave with her, beat her and vandalize her house. The accused has been arrested by the police from his Varanasi apartment. The nurse has been sent for medical examination. Her written statement will be recorded in the court soon.
