5 big projects got approval under Clean Ganga Project, work will also be done on cleaning these rivers of UP

The National Mission for Clean Ganga has approved 5 projects worth Rs 73 crore for Uttar Pradesh in the 56th Executive Committee meeting held in New Delhi. Director General of National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) Rajiv Kumar Mittal chaired the meeting. The statement said that the approved projects are very important for improving the eco-system of the Ganga river. Because through these projects, pollution in the Ganga will be reduced to a minimum level.

According to PTI, the project aims to deploy global experts and adopt sustainable practices to revive and rejuvenate all small rivers spread across the country. It said that this is to establish the right balance between environment, economy and society.

According to the statement, a project on ‘Sludge Management to Reduce Pollution of Ganga River’ was approved at Dalmau, Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh under the Namami Gange Mission to reduce pollution of the Ganga River. Under this project, an 8 KLD faecal sludge treatment plant, a 15 kW solar energy plant and a solar inverter will be installed.

The statement said that the sewerage project focused on cleaning the Ganga river has been officially approved for implementation in Gulavathi located in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. The project aims to prevent pollution in the Eastern Kali River, a tributary of the Ganga river flowing through 8 districts of Uttar Pradesh. The project focuses on the operation and management of the sewerage treatment plant (STP) for a stipulated period of 15 years.

The project proposed by the Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow, will work on the revival of downstream streams and tributaries in the Upper Gomti River Basin through NBS.
