42 dogs were raped, tortured and killed… videos were also made, the beast was sentenced to this many years

Renowned crocodile expert Adam Britton has been sentenced by an Australian court to more than 10 years in prison for crimes related to sexual abuse and murder of dozens of dogs. The 53-year-old biologist, who worked on BBC and National Geographic productions, has been convicted of 56 charges related to animal cruelty and possession of child abuse material.

According to the details of the case, Britton bought 42 dogs online between 2020 and 2022 and promised their owners that he would take good care of the dogs. But he tortured and abused these animals, and also shot his actions inside a shipping container. At least 39 dogs died due to his torture.

Britton later shared these videos on the messaging app Telegram. The investigation also found that he discussed his killings under pseudonyms – ‘Monster’ and ‘Cerberus’. Chief Justice Michael Grant of the Northern Territory Supreme Court described Britton’s crimes as ‘bizarre’ and ‘speechless’. Apart from the jail sentence, Britton has been banned for life from keeping or buying any animal.

Australian broadcaster ABC News quoted Justice Grant as saying, ‘The man took pictures of the dogs before torturing and killing them and later sent those pictures to the former owners telling them that they were adapting well to the new environment. The court said that the scale of Britton’s cruelty is completely beyond any normal human perception and understanding.

Britton, once a respected figure in the field of wildlife conservation, was first arrested in 2022. Police found computers, cameras, weapons, sex toys, dog heads and the rotting corpses of puppies on his rural property.

The case has sparked outrage in the region and calls for stricter regulations and background checks for people working with animals. Meanwhile, animal rights activists say Britton has received a much lighter punishment than the magnitude of the crime.
