The armed forces, paramilitary forces and police personnel who displayed indomitable courage and bravery were awarded the Kirti Chakra and Shaurya Chakra on Friday evening. President Draupadi Murmu awarded 10 Kirti Chakras (seven posthumously) and 26 Shaurya Chakras (seven posthumously) during the Defense Investiture Ceremony (Phase-1) at Rashtrapati Bhavan on July 05, 2024. PM Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were present on the occasion.

Awarded the Kirti Chakra posthumously

These awards were given to the armed forces, central armed police forces and state and union territory police personnel for conspicuous gallantry, indomitable courage and exceptional performance of duty. Inspector Dilip Kumar, Head Constable Rajkumar Yadav, Constable Bablu Rabha and Constable Shambhu Roy of CRPF 210 Cobra were awarded the Kirti Chakra posthumously.

Many soldiers of the Indian Army were awarded the Kirti Chakra

Sepoy Pawan Kumar of Grenadier 55 Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army was awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously. Captain Anshuman Singh of Indian Army was awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously. He was in Army Medical Corps 26 Battalion Punjab Regiment. Havildar Abdul Majid was also awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously. Havildar Abdul was part of 9 Battalion Parachute Regiment, Special Force of Indian Army. The families of all these brave sons received this honor.

Awarded Shaurya Chakra posthumously

The President has awarded the Shaurya Chakra posthumously to Selection Grade Constable Safiullah Qadri of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Major Vikas and Major Mustafa of Army Aviation Squadron of Indian Army have been awarded the Shaurya Chakra posthumously. Army Rifleman Kulbhushan, who was in Jammu and Kashmir Rifles 52 Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles, has been awarded the Shaurya Chakra posthumously. Havildar Vivek Singh Tomar of 5 Battalion Rajputana Rifles, Rifleman Alok Rao of 18 Assam Rifles and Captain MV Pranjal have been awarded the Shaurya Chakra posthumously. Captain Pranjal was in Corps of Signals 63 Battalion Rashtriya Rifles. Army Major Digvijay Singh Rawat, Major Deependra Vikram Basnet, Naib Subedar Pawan Kumar Yadav have been awarded the Kirti Chakra to their families.

Those who were awarded the Shaurya Chakra include CRPF constable Mukesh Kumar, Jammu Kashmir Police sub-inspector Amit Raina, Firoz Ahmad Dar, constable Varun Singh, Superintendent of Police Mohanlal, CRPF assistant commandant Bibhor Kumar Singh, Army major Rajendra Prasad, Major Ravindra Singh Rawat, Naik Bhim Singh, Major Sachin Negi, Major Maneo Francis, Air Force wing commander Shailesh Singh, Navy lieutenant Vimal Ranjan, Army havildar Sanjay Kumar, Air Force lieutenant Rishikesh Jayan, Army captain Akshat Upadhyay, Naib Subedar Sanjay Kumar, Major Amandeep Jakhar and civilian army’s Purushottam Kumar. During this, the saga of bravery of these heroes was also narrated.
