30 days completed since the coup in Bangladesh, what changed in one month? BSF-BGB meeting held on the border

Exactly one month after the coup in Bangladesh, today on 5 September, an important meeting was held between the Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on the India-Bangladesh border. The main agenda of the meeting was to keep a strict vigil on the Indian borders after the change of power in the neighboring country.

Sector Commander level coordination meeting between Border Security Force and Border Guard Bangladesh was held near Bursora Land Customs Station in Bangladesh. The aim of the meeting was to strengthen bilateral relations, ensure better coordination and resolve various border related issues.

What issues were discussed in the meeting?

The BSF delegation was led by Manoj Kumar Barnwal, DIG, Sector Headquarters BSF Shillong while Mohammad Saiful Islam Chowdhury, Deputy Director General, Sector Commander BGB, Sylhet, Bangladesh led the BGB representatives.

During the meeting, the commanders of the two border security forces discussed various border-related issues such as coordinated border management plan and other matters of mutual interest. At the end of the conference, both sides expressed satisfaction over the fruitful and cordial discussions, which reflects the friendly bilateral relations between the two countries.

Will provide environment for safe and peaceful border environment

The two commanders reiterated their commitment to promote a secure and peaceful border environment and appreciated the ongoing efforts of their respective forces in maintaining peace in the region. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides agreeing to hold regular coordination meetings in the future to ensure continued cooperation and smooth conduct of border management operations.

Bangladesh coup completes one month

One month has passed since the coup in Bangladesh. A lot has changed in the neighboring country in this one month. Former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has been in India for a month. Nearly 33 cases have been registered against her in Bangladesh. This includes 27 cases of murder, four cases of crimes against humanity and genocide and one case of kidnapping.

Attacks on Awami League workers

After widespread violence and anti-reservation movement, the leadership in Bangladesh is now in the hands of an interim government headed by 84-year-old Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus. There are constant reports of attacks on Awami League leaders and workers. Sheikh Hasina’s party alleges that these attacks are being carried out by Jamaat-e-Islami.

Hindu minorities were targeted

In a month, a large number of Hindus were targeted in Bangladesh and their religious places were destroyed. The Indian government has asked the interim government of Bangladesh to ensure the safety of Hindu minorities. Chief Advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh Muhammad Yunus has said that the issue of attacks on minority Hindus in his country is being exaggerated and he has questioned the way India is presenting it.

More than 230 people died in the violence

More than 230 people have been killed in incidents of violence that erupted across the country after the fall of the Hasina government in Bangladesh. The death toll has risen to more than 600 since massive protests began in mid-July by students against the controversial quota system in government jobs.
