24 students of LPU are participating in Paris Olympics 2024, this is the second largest contingent after Stanford University of America in the Olympics

Lovely Professional University (LPU) has achieved a special milestone by becoming the second largest contingent globally after Stanford University (USA) at Paris Olympics 2024. 24 impressive students of LPU have earned the prestigious opportunity to represent India on the global stage, reflecting the University’s unwavering commitment to excellence in sports and education. Let us tell you that the Indian contingent at the Paris Olympics this year consists of 117 athletes, of which LPU athletes account for 21%, which is a major achievement for the institute. These students are members of the Indian contingent, which is participating in various sporting disciplines including javelin throw, wrestling, hockey, athletics, weightlifting, shooting, and boxing.

The LPU athletes selected for Paris Olympics 2024 include Tokyo 2020 Olympics men’s javelin throw gold medalist Neeraj Chopra (BA) and star weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (MA Psychology) in the women’s 49 kg category. Apart from this, Indian hockey team members from LPU include Captain Harmanpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Shamsher Singh, Mandeep Singh, Sukhjeet Singh. All of them are pursuing BA from LPU. Apart from this, Manpreet Singh and Gurjant, who are pursuing MBA from the institute, are also part of the hockey team. At the same time, student Jarmanpreet Singh is also a member of the team.

Other LPU athletes selected for the Paris Olympics include – boxers Lovlina (BA, 75kg), Jasmine (BPEd, 57kg), and Preeti (B.Sc Health and Physical Education, 54kg); wrestlers Anshu (MA English, 57kg), Nisha (68kg), Vinesh (MA Psychology, 50kg), and Antim Panghal (53kg). Besides, athletes Kiran Pahal (BA), Balraj Panwar (BBA, M1X Rowing), Paramjeet, Vikas (men’s 20km race walk), and archers Dheeraj Bommadevara and Tarundeep Roy will also represent LPU at the Olympics. Also, shooter Arjun Singh Cheema (MA Public Administration), who has been selected for the 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team events.
