A sensational incident has come to light late Tuesday night at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar. Kritika Raj (23 years), a B.Tech third year student at IIT Bhubaneswar, committed suicide by jumping from the hostel roof. In the initial investigation, the police is considering it a case of suicide. At present, the reason for the suicide is not known. The police is investigating the case and the family has been informed.
Kritika Raj, a 23-year-old student of IIT Bhubaneswar, was a resident of Delhi. It is being told that late at night the student jumped from the roof of the administrative building, seeing which other students immediately admitted her to the hospital of IIT campus. Later she was referred to Capital Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
According to a report by news agency PTI, Krithika Raj fell from the fifth floor of the institute’s administrative building. IIT Bhubaneswar said in a statement, “At around 11 pm last night, a student fell from the fifth floor of the administrative building, which also houses the library. The police were immediately informed and the matter is being investigated.”
The police have sent the body to Khurda District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem. There is mourning in the entire campus after this incident. The police is seriously investigating the matter so that the reasons behind the death of the student can be found out.
