17 people convicted in Bhola drugs case, former Punjab DSP sentenced to 10 years

A special PMLA court in Mohali, Punjab on Tuesday convicted 17 people including Jagdish Singh alias Bhola in a money laundering case related to drug smuggling. Wrestler-turned-policeman-turned-drug mafia Bhola has been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment along with another accused Avtar Singh Taro. Taking cognizance of FIRs lodged in various police stations of Punjab, the ED started investigating the case in the year 2013.

Sources said that in 2015, ED had filed a chargesheet against 23 accused in this case. Two of them were declared fugitives, while four died during investigation or trial. This is a case in which all 17 accused named in the prosecution’s complaint have been convicted under the Anti Money Laundering Law. Other accused in this have been sentenced to 3 to 10 years.

Those found guilty in this case include Jagdish Singh alias Bhola, Avtar Singh Taro, Sandeep Kaur, Jagminder Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur, Gurmeet Kaur, Sukhjit Singh Sukha, Sukhraj Singh, Gurdeep Singh Manchanda, Amarjit Kaur, Devinder Singh, Maninder Singh, Subhash Bajaj, Sunil Bajaj, Ankur Bajaj, Dalip Singh Mann and Manpreet Singh. The Bhola drugs money laundering case is linked to a synthetic narcotics racket worth crores of rupees.

This was exposed in Punjab during the year 2013-14. ED arrested Bhola in January 2014. His property worth Rs 95 crore was confiscated. Let us tell you that Jagdish Singh alias Bhola was earlier a wrestler, who later joined the Punjab Police. After becoming a DSP, he came in contact with drug smugglers and later became their leader. His gang has a big hand in spreading drugs in Punjab.

Just two days ago, Punjab Police has busted a big international drug racket. Police busted an international drug network and arrested two people and also recovered more than 1 crore rupees in cash. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav had said that the accused were working for two drug smugglers based abroad. In an intelligence operation, Punjab Police busted the international drug network.

Two henchmen of big drug smugglers Gurjant Singh Bholu and Kinderbir Singh alias Sunny Dayal sitting abroad were also arrested. The DGP said that the State Special Operations Cell in Amritsar has registered a case against foreign handlers and two henchmen for running an organized crime syndicate. Rs 1.07 crore, 1 money counting machine, 1 car and 2 mobile phones have also been recovered from the accused. They are being interrogated in custody.
