13 lakhs were cheated in the name of getting a government job, the woman was threatened to be implicated when she asked for the money

A case of cheating a woman by promising her a job has come to light in Thane district adjacent to Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai. In this case, the police have registered a case against the accused. The officer said that a woman was cheated of Rs 13 lakh in the name of getting a job.

According to the news agency, Navi Mumbai Police has registered a case against a man for duping a woman of Rs 12.65 lakh on the pretext of giving her a job and hacking her Instagram account and sending objectionable messages.

Citing the complaint, an official from the APMC police station said that the 20-year-old accused had promised a government job to a 25-year-old woman from Turbhegaon. From July 2021 till now, the accused took Rs 12.65 from the woman but she did not get the job.

On asking for money, the accused threatened to implicate him

When the woman demanded her money back, the accused threatened her that he would commit suicide and put the blame on her. He then threatened to harm her family members, the official said.

The man also hacked the woman’s Instagram account and shared objectionable posts. The police recently registered a case of criminal breach of trust and criminal intimidation against the man under the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act, the official said.
