100 grams weight broke the hearts of 140 crore Indians! Who is responsible for Vinesh’s disqualification?

Due to 100 grams more weight, the hopes of 140 crore Indians to win the gold medal have been shattered. Vinesh Phogat was declared ineligible just a few hours before playing the final of the 50 kg women’s wrestling category. But not only the whole country but now even the world’s top players are calling Vinesh Phogat the golden girl. Because Vinesh Phogat defeated the world’s number one player on Tuesday. Won three matches consecutively. Vinesh did not adopt any such path, where the medal could have been saved but there would have been no morality. That is, Vinesh Phogat was the golden girl not only on the wrestling mat but also on the mat of morality.

After this, people across the country were waiting and believing that Vinesh Phogat, who reached the final of women’s wrestling for the first time in the Olympics on the night of 7 August, will now create history. She will win the gold medal. She will hoist the tricolor. But everything stopped. It stopped. And due to being 100 grams overweight, she was declared ineligible and the country missed the medal that was to come to it. However, Vinesh has challenged her disqualification in the sports court CAS.

In fact, on Tuesday, Vinesh Phogat defeated the Japanese wrestler in the pre-quarterfinals. Then she defeated the Ukrainian wrestler in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, she defeated the Cuban wrestler. But in the final match to be held on Wednesday night, when the world was watching India create history for the first time in the final of the Olympic women’s wrestling, Vinesh, who plays in the 50 kg category, was disqualified because her weight was 100 grams more.

Here, the news of Vinesh being disqualified due to being 100 grams overweight shocked India. Everyone thought how could this happen to our champion daughter. Then the news came that Vinesh has been admitted to the hospital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi from India immediately spoke to PT Usha, the head of IOA i.e. Indian Olympic Association. After talking to PT Usha, the Prime Minister wrote – Vinesh is a champion among champions. The Prime Minister has said that Vinesh should come back stronger. President Draupadi Murmu, Home Minister Amit Shah, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and all the Chief Ministers of the country called Vinesh the real gold winner.

Getting support from Bollywood too

Bollywood started showing its heart for Vinesh. They started saying that the real legend is Vinesh. All this because Vinesh defeated the world’s number one wrestler before reaching the final. But due to a mere weight gain of 100 grams, the same Vinesh was not only disqualified from fighting for the gold. She was also denied the silver medal. Forget about the medal, it was claimed that she was placed at the last position as per the rules. Then the question arose that how did it happen that Vinesh was just 100 grams away from creating history? Allegations of conspiracy and negligence started being made.

Vinesh disqualified for weighing as much as a banana

In such a situation, the question arises whether there was really negligence, which has ruined India’s hopes of a medal and Vinesh Phogat’s hard work due to 100 grams more weight? Since this news came in the morning, everyone is shocked about how someone can stay away from that dream due to being 100 grams more weight. After all, how much is 100 grams, if we look at it, a soap bar weighs 100 grams. A T-shirt weighs 100 to 130 grams. You must have seen a 100 to 150 gram tube of toothpaste. A 300 ml glass of water weighs about 100 grams. Uno cards, a banana, two eggs, a packet of biscuits, a bar of butter, these are equal to 100 grams. Just think, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified before the Olympic final match due to just this much weight. After which there was no way left for a medal.

This is the rule of UWW

The head of UWW i.e. United World Wrestling says that nothing can be done now. The question is how did the weight remain 100 grams more that there was no possibility of anything happening? According to the rules of United World Wrestling, the matches in each weight category go on for two days. That is why the weight of the players is measured for two days. On the first day when the match starts, 30 minutes are given to measure the weight. On the first day, in 30 minutes, the players get a chance to measure their weight as many times as they want. On the second day i.e. Wednesday, the players are given 15 minutes to measure their weight. Similarly, Vinesh Phogat also got a chance on both days. Where on the morning of August 6, before the match, Vinesh Phogat’s weight was 49.9 kg. That is, according to the 50 kg category in which Vinesh plays, it is absolutely fine. But it is claimed that after three matches on August 6, Vinesh’s weight became 52.7 kg.

Vinesh had put in all her effort to lose weight

It was claimed that during this time Vinesh tried her best to reduce her weight i.e. to come in 50 kg category as per the norms, she did skipping, jogging, cycling etc. But on 7th June, i.e. on the morning of the final match, when she got 15 minutes for weighing, despite all the efforts, her weight came to 50 kg 100 grams. That is, 100 grams more. And this 100 grams defeated all the hopes before the match. So who is responsible for this 100 grams? No one has the slightest doubt that Vinesh cannot be responsible who was trying her best to win medals for the country. So then who is responsible now? Many allegations started being made in politics regarding Vinesh’s weight. Doubts started being raised.

When the opposition surrounded him, the sports minister replied

The opposition is doing politics of allegations on this basis because Vinesh Phogat was accused of sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who was the head of the Indian Wrestling Association. She fought for justice in the movement that started after the sexual harassment allegations. But the truth is that Vinesh’s hard work was not ignored. And the Sports Ministry claims that every need of Vinesh was fulfilled so that she could bring medals for the country. You can see them being happy after Vinesh won the semi-finals on Tuesday. From the coach to the support staff, everything was given to Vinesh according to her wish. Among them, Hungary’s Voler Akos, who is Vinesh’s coach. From training to every responsibility is the coach’s.

Was it a mistake by the staff?

So the question is, did the coach or staff make the mistake? They could not stop Vinesh from weighing 52 kg 700 grams before the match. Despite being professionals, they could not understand how to reduce more than two and a half kg of weight in a few hours before such a big match? Has the mistake of the coach and staff dashed India’s hopes? Has the mistake of the coach and staff taken away the medal from the country’s daughter? After being disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 final, the President of the Wrestling Federation of India has made a big announcement and said that an investigation will be conducted on Vinesh Phogat’s support staff. It will be found out why the support staff failed to properly monitor Vinesh’s weight. Now this will be investigated.

How did Vinesh’s weight increase?

The knocking question is whether there is a need to change the rules now. Because the player who won all his three matches a day before, was not allowed to compete on the second day just because his weight had increased by 100 grams, and that 100 grams was not increased by any wrong means. That is why the demand for justice for a player has started rising in the world. Six-time world champion and London Olympics gold medalist American wrestler Jordan Burroughs has demanded a change in the rules after looking at Vinesh Phogat’s case. Jordan Burroughs has demanded that wrestlers should be given a weight exemption of one kg after a day. The weighing time should be increased from 8.30 am to 10.30 am. – After winning the semi-finals, the medals of both the finalists should be secure, even if they fail to lose weight on the second day. The gold medal should be given only to the wrestler who has kept the weight under control on the second day as well. On this basis, six-time world champion Jordan Burroughs also demands that Vinesh Phogat be given a silver medal. Many people in our country are also making the same demand.
